Covered in His Promises

Resting in What God Has Already Said

“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ.” — 2 Corinthians 1:20

There are seasons when life feels certain, and seasons when nearly everything beneath our feet seems to move.

But there is something that does not move.

God’s Word.

His promises are not wishful thinking. They are not positive affirmations we repeat in hopes of making something happen. They are invitations to place the full weight of our lives upon the character of the One who spoke them.

God does not promise us a life without valleys.

He promises to walk through them with us.

He does not promise that we will understand everything.

He promises to guide us.

He does not promise that we will never grieve.

He promises to comfort us.

He does not promise that we will always feel strong.

He promises that His strength is sufficient when ours is not.

And perhaps one of the most beautiful promises of all is simply this:

We will never have to do this life alone.

So stop allowing our circumstances to have the loudest voice in the room.

Instead, ask:

What has God said?

When fear says, What if?

We will answer with His promises.

When disappointment says, It’s over.

We will remember that God restores.

When shame says, You are disqualified.

Grace will remind us that Jesus already covered it.

When the future feels uncertain, we will remember that the future is not uncertain to God.

And when we simply don’t know what to do next, rest beneath one beautiful truth:

The One who holds tomorrow is already there.

So open your Bible.

Bring your questions.

Bring the places where your faith feels strong and the places where it feels a little shaky.

Bring the prayers you have prayed a hundred times.

Bring the dreams you are still waiting on.

Bring your whole heart.

Cover your worries with truth, our fears with faith, our relationships with grace, and our lives with love.

Because sometimes covering something with love begins by remembering—

we were covered first.

Above all, love each other deeply.
1 Peter 4:8
