Flourishing

On April 16th the Lord reminded me that I do not have to carry battles that were never mine to hold. I can bring Him every worry, fear, and doubt — and trust that He will meet me there with peace, strength, and loving kindness.

I wrote a blog as a reflection on doubt, weakness, and the goodness of God. If you have ever felt like you needed to hide your questions or be strong all on your own, this one is for you. The battle belongs to the Lord… and that is very good news.

This morning I read a body of work. by Christine Caine. It lands and I am posting here:

“I know what it feels like to be doing all the “right” things and still feel like something is missing. To love Jesus and still feel spiritually dry. To show up at church, read your Bible, say your prayers, and wonder why your soul still feels like it’s running on empty. I’ve been there. More than once. After four decades of following Jesus, I can tell you this: Flourishing happens when we develop rhythms that keep us rooted. Not rules. Not a religious checklist. Rhythms. The kind of practices that become so woven into the fabric of your everyday life that they nourish your roots even when the season is hard. Even when you can’t see the fruit yet. Even when everything around you feels uncertain.

Flourishing doesn’t happen by accident, and it doesn’t happen by just trying harder.

When I look at what has sustained me through the most difficult seasons of my life, through loss, through betrayal, through starting over, through raising my girls, through building global ministries, it always comes back to these rhythms. Not because they’re perfect, but because they keep me connected to the One who is.

In my book The Faith to Flourish, I share how God used the olive tree to teach me what it really looks like to live a rooted, resilient, and fruitful life. The olive tree doesn’t rush. It grows slowly. It endures harsh conditions. And, it bears fruit for generations. That’s the kind of life I want.

What follows here are seven rhythms that make all the difference. They’re not
complicated. They’re not new. But they might be the very things that take you from where you are right now to where God is taking you next. I believe it’s the kind of life you want, too”.
